FUN STUFF FOR THE KIDS
It was while I was in the military and pregnant with my son that I met one of my best friends. She had a daycare, and she was a sweet human and loved by all who knew her. Every child she met and/or cared for became her own in some way, and her heart was so full of love. She passed from a short battle with cancer while on the operating table on 2-13-23 and this loss has left a hole in the lives of many. I dedicate this page to her memory, her love of children and everyone else really, her strength through everything that would have brought most people to their knees, her faith in God, and everything else that I love about her.
A fun mess free project for toddlers:
You'll need:
Cardstock (light color or white)
Paint (different colors)
Ziplock bag
Instructions:
Squeeze a dot of each color of paint on the edge of the cardstock and place it inside the Ziplock bag and seal it. For the love of God, make sure it's sealed! Let your child push the paint around and create their masterpiece. Hopefully this will keep them occupied for a while as if they were actually playing in paint for real, like on your walls and other places you wouldn't want. While they're doing it, pray that you remembered to clip their fingernails recently and there aren't any holes in the bag! Once they're bored of doing this, or if you have more than one child doing this at a time and they're now fighting, you know it's time to be done.
If all goes according to plan, you can take the artwork out of the Ziplock bag and let it dry. Voila, artwork for the fridge! Then, after it's been there for a while and they've forgot about it, you can take it down and wait to replace it with the next project.
An outing to the thrift stores to find supplies to make a bird feeder:
Look for cute teacups and saucers, they don't even have to match! Let the kids decide what they want for this project. (What other items can you find that would work?)
Hot glue the cup to the saucer, placing the cup on its side, and the handle up. Tie a piece of string, twine or whatever to the handle for hanging. Put some birdseed or sunflower seeds in the cup and on the saucer for the birds to feast on! Or the squirrels...
